TRIBAL TOUR GUJARAT

Day: 01 Arrival Ahmedabad

Today on arrival at Ahmedabad, you are received by our tour representative who escorts you to Gandhi Ashram. Check into hotel, rest and relax for some time after which set out for a short tour covering places like Shreyas Folk Museum and Tribal Museum. Return to Gandhi Ashram for dinner and night stay.

 

Day: 02 Ahmedabad- Chhota Udepur (250km/5Hrs)

The next day, after breakfast, we set out for Chhota Udepur, a quaint and renowned tribal belt that has been home to the Chauhan Rajput clan for many years. The tribal population of this region migrated from the central part of India and settled here as agricultural workers. Upon reaching Chauhan Rajput, we embark on a tribal tour of villages such as Kol, Devhat, Kharakwada, and Timla. In these villages, one may encounter tribal people from the Bhils and Rathwas tribal communities and might catch sight of many exquisite tribal crafts such as pottery, wall painting, pitthora, arrow crafting, and bow making. After the Chhottaudepur sightseeing, we check into the heritage home of Kalaniketan for the night stay.

 

Day: 03 Chhota Udepur-Utelia (150km/3Hrs)

Today after breakfast we leave for Utelia. On reaching Utelia, we set out for a tour of the tribal village of the Bharwad tribes. The tribal people of the Bharwad tribe are basically pastoral people working mostly as cattlemen and shepherds. A tour of this village may help you catch sight of some beautiful tribal houses, neat lanes, simple tribal people and their day-to-day lifestyle. Check into Utelia palace for a sumptuous dinner and night stay.

 

Day: 04 Utelia-Balaram (140km/3Hrs)

Next day, we move for Balaram. On reaching, we check into the luxurious Balaram palace resort. Rest of the day is left to you to rest, relax and enjoy the royal facilities at the resort. In the evening enjoy a tribal cultural program within the resort premises and tap your feet to the rhythm and music of tribal dances. Dinner and overnight stay at the resort.

 

Day: 05 Balaram – Tribal village excursions

Next day, post breakfast we set out for an excursion of the tribal villages of the Gowala and Garasia tribes located on the foothills of hills bordering both Gujarat as well as Rajasthan. The inhabitants of these tribal villages are mostly shepherds by profession. However, the two tribes differ from each other in their lifestyle. Gowalas are settled tribes while Garasias lead a nomadic life still. Back to palace resort for dinner and night stay.

 

Day: 06 Balaram-Patan-Little Rann of Kutch (100km/2Hrs)

Day after, we depart for the Little Rann of Kutch and en-route we visit Patan, well known for its Patola weaving craft and the unique Mushroom fabrics. At Patan we visit some of the Patola weavers and visualize a demonstration of this rare craft. Also, we visit the famed and marvelous 11th century step well, Rani-ki-Bhav after which we down straight to the little Rann and halt for a unique night stay at the Rann cottages.

 

Day: 07 Little Rann of Kutch tour

Next day is given to the tour of the tribal villages of Banjara and Rabari tribes. Rabaris follow an extremely nomadic lifestyle and are always on the move in quest of good grazing grounds for their sheep and camels. Banjaras are now a settled tribe inhabiting the little Rann region. After the tribal tour we pay a visit to the Indian wild ass sanctuary to visit the rare Asiatic wild ass species. Back to cottage for dinner and night stay.

 

Day: 08 Little Rann of Kutch-Ahmedabad (95km/2Hrs)

Next day, we leave for Ahmedabad. On reaching Ahmedabad, our representative transfers you to airport and sees you off. You then proceed for your onward journey back home.
